From March to November of this year, the initiative brought together over 5.83 million people, representing a significant portion of the country's population. As part of the events, large-scale clean-up efforts were conducted, resulting in the collection of more than 1,159 thousand tons of waste and the planting of over 1,609 thousand trees. Active work was carried out at both the governmental and public levels, involving volunteers and private organizations.
Combating Unauthorized Landfills and Air Pollution
Within the framework of the "Taza Kazakhstan" initiative, raids were conducted to identify unauthorized landfills. Numerous dumps were eliminated in collaboration with territorial environmental departments and local authorities.
During the "Clean Air" raids, 482 vehicles were checked, leading to the identification of 105 violations of environmental standards. Administrative measures, including fines and warnings, were applied to 96 drivers. These actions highlighted the importance of adhering to environmental norms and increased accountability among road users.
Digital Support for Ecology
A significant achievement of the project was the creation of the digital platform @TazaQazBot, which allows citizens to report environmental issues and participate in their resolution. Over the year, 7,929 requests were submitted through the chatbot. Of these, 7,061 requests were completed, 168 requests are in progress, 23 requests are being processed, and 674 requests were canceled. The most common requests included: cleaning areas – 2,142 requests, removal of household waste – 668 requests, street improvement – 648 requests, and road repairs – 595 requests. Among the regions, Almaty leads with 2,014 requests, followed by Astana with 1,587 requests, and Karaganda region with 757 requests. The chatbot has become an effective tool for dialogue between citizens and the government, facilitating prompt solutions to environmental problems.
Concept for Developing Environmental Culture among the Population
To consolidate the achieved results and foster long-term environmental awareness, the "Concept for Developing Environmental Culture among the Population for 2024–2029" has been approved. This document outlines key directions for environmental policy.
One of the priorities of the Concept is to engage youth in environmental projects. Throughout the year, lectures, eco-hours, and excursions to environmental laboratories were conducted. As a result, over 90,000 volunteers participated in beautification and greening activities this year.
To enhance public environmental awareness, efforts are underway to highlight topics such as waste recycling, pollution monitoring, conducting beautification contests, and developing eco-volunteering.
A key direction of the Concept is also the creation of conditions for active citizen participation. Special attention is given to the development of digital platforms, such as @TazaQazBot, which have already proven their effectiveness. Additionally, control over compliance with environmental standards and the implementation of ecological standards is being strengthened.
Moreover, plans are in place for the next year to enhance the functioning of stabilization funds to establish a sustainable system of environmental management. Large-scale nationwide initiatives for greening and beautifying areas are also planned.
Interdepartmental cooperation will be intensified to reduce emissions and monitor environmental standards. There are plans to develop environmental education programs for the public, including digital technologies and media resources.
The "Taza Kazakhstan" initiative goes beyond mere cleanup activities. It is a movement for an eco-conscious lifestyle that unites the efforts of citizens, businesses, government entities, and public organizations.
Thanks to comprehensive measures and the implementation of innovative technologies, Kazakhstan is making significant strides toward ecological well-being, sustainable development, and creating a comfortable environment for future generations.
