In Kazakhstan, particularly in Almaty, mopeds are extremely popular among delivery services. Throughout the year, you can see hundreds of couriers swiftly delivering orders on the streets. However, when winter arrives, it’s worth considering how safe and appropriate it is to use a moped during the cold months, as reported by Tengri Auto.
According to the Committee of Administrative Police, there is no official ban on using mopeds in winter in Kazakhstan. Therefore, in theory, one can use this mode of transport year-round.
Nonetheless, winter brings its own rules. There is a lack of specialized winter tires for mopeds in the Kazakh market. This is due to the fact that mopeds are more common in warmer countries where there is no demand for such products.
Moped riders, especially couriers, essentially take risks for their earnings. Roads covered in ice or snow pose significant dangers for controlling such vehicles.
As a result, mopeds in winter are left to the brave or the needy. This is done at their own risk, fully aware of the consequences of such a choice. However, it’s important to remember that riding a moped in winter also puts others at risk.
