During a working trip to the Mangistau region, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Amangali Berdalin visited the Sarja port in the Kuryk settlement, where he participated in the first departure of vessels for commercial sprat fishing.
Commercial fishing in the Mangistau region was thriving until 1991, when the enterprise "Mangyshlak Rybkholodflot" operated, supplying the region and other countries with fish products.
After three decades, the Mangistau region is reviving the traditions of commercial fishing. For the first time in 30 years, ships have set sail for industrial fish catch in the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea.
This significant event was made possible by the implementation of the President's directive on the development of the fishing industry and ensuring the country's food security.
One of the initial steps was the acquisition and registration of two trawlers by the LLP “Aktau Balyk Company.” It is planned that with their help, the company will harvest about 10,000 tons of Caspian sprat annually, providing the domestic market with quality fish.
Next year, to increase the catch volume to 30,000 tons, the company intends to expand its fleet by purchasing four more modern trawlers.
The project of LLP “Aktau Balyk Company” is a significant step towards the development of the region's fishing industry, contributing to job creation, increasing local specialists in commercial fishing, and strengthening food security.
