A passenger on the Aktau-Almaty flight has been accused of harassing a young girl.

A passenger on the Aktau - Almaty flight shared a story on the social network Threads about witnessing harassment against a girl on December 21.

She recounted that a man seated himself next to the underage girl, who was traveling without adult supervision, and behaved inappropriately towards her.

According to her, the minor passenger was flying alone, with permission to travel. During takeoff, when the lights in the plane were turned off, a drunken man came and sat next to her.

"During takeoff, the lights were turned off, and he handed the girl his phone, supposedly so she could take a picture of the view from the window. Then, while the girl was filming a video, he moved closer to her, took her hands, asked her name and age, started saying that she was beautiful, stroked her, and breathed on her. She said, 'Don't touch me,' the lights turned on - and about ten minutes later, the flight attendants entered the cabin and saw that the girl was crying, learned the reason from her, and moved her to sit with me.

We calmed her down, I was sitting next to her, and that man, having drunk too much, was sweetly sleeping, unaware of the police waiting for him. Passengers sitting behind agreed to be witnesses to what happened, which is indicative of zero tolerance for harassment. Upon arrival, the girl was met by her parents, while the man was taken in by the police," wrote the Kazakhstani woman.

The press service of the transport police department reported to the publication that the offender was taken to the police and held administratively liable for consuming alcoholic beverages or appearing in public places while intoxicated (Article 440 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The punishment includes a fine of 5 MRP (18,460 tenge).

"As a result of the investigation, no other illegal actions were identified," the agency’s press service stated.

Recall that last week, a serviceman was accused of attempting to rape a child in a hospital in Astana. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the suspect has been arrested.

Earlier, in early October, a scandal erupted in one of the capital's gymnasiums: teachers were accused of harassment against seventh-grade girls. The Department of Police reported that a criminal case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

It is worth noting that in April, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed laws aimed at ensuring the protection of women's rights and children's safety. It was reported that the signed laws introduce provisions that tighten responsibility for any manifestations of violence against women and children, as well as aimed at strengthening the family institution and ensuring the safety of minors.
