Damage of 3.7 billion tenge: an accountant from a construction company has been extradited to Almaty from Russia.

According to a report from the regulatory authority's Telegram channel, the suspect worked as an accountant at a construction company in Almaty from 2005 to 2007.

The investigation suggests that while serving as an accountant, she accepted payments from participants of shared construction and issued them unrecorded fraudulent receipts for incoming cash orders related to an unfinished residential complex.

"As a result of her actions and those of other accomplices, over 80 residents of Almaty suffered damages amounting to more than 3.7 billion tenge.

"One of the suspect's accomplices has been convicted, and after committing the crime, she fled, which is why she was placed on the international wanted list," the statement reads.

In December of last year, the fugitive was apprehended in the Krasnodar region of Russia and subsequently extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Currently, the woman has been placed in a detention center.

It is worth noting that earlier, a citizen of Kazakhstan was extradited from Russia at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, who is also suspected of large-scale fraud.

Prior to that, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was extradited to Kazakhstan, suspected of large-scale drug trafficking. Reports indicated that he could face life imprisonment.

We also reported that a citizen of Georgia was returned to Kazakhstan — he had previously been involved in a traffic accident in Almaty and then fled to Poland, where he was later detained.
