Former world number nine from Germany, Julia Görges, stated that she is more impressed by the level of Kazakhstan's tennis player Elena Rybakina than by the playing quality of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Polish Iga Swiatek, as reported by Vesti.kz.
"I really love Elena Rybakina because our playing styles are similar. She plays uncompromisingly. Not only does she hit well from the baseline and serve effectively, but she also plays skillfully at the net. I believe that it is these qualities that can lead to winning Grand Slam tournaments."
"Iga Swiatek impresses me with her movement. I haven't seen Aryna Sabalenka play in a long time. She trains incredibly hard and only progresses with the years. Aryna fully deserves her place at the top of the world rankings. But if I had to choose just one of these three athletes, it would be Rybakina," Görges is quoted as saying by We Love Tennis.
This year, Rybakina won WTA 500 tournaments in Stuttgart (Germany), Brisbane (Australia), and Abu Dhabi (UAE). However, she had to skip several competitions due to health issues.
In the fall, she ended her collaboration with Croatian coach Stefano Vukov, opting for another Croatian specialist, Goran Ivanisevic.
In the WTA rankings, Sabalenka is in first place, Swiatek is in second, and Rybakina is in sixth.
